well folks, i made it to nashville. i happen to be typing this from my own little space in 4013 stonybrook. got the car packed up with the help of my parents (with most of it fitting in my trunk) and hit the road with lee. (lee is what i ever affectionately call my g.p.s., aka my lifeline for navigation) a little over three hours and one u-turn later, i pulled into 'my' driveway.
walking up to the house, i saw a sign for 'the sheltons'. positive i was at the wrong house, but with some sudden confidence, i located the key under the mat and walked in. and after some clever investigating, i was at the right house and began the hunt for my room. home sweet home, here i come.
during the drive today i was thinking about when i've moved in my life. over the last three years, i've moved three times each year. once to school, once home, and once to ireland for parts of the summer. once i got all my stuff up to my space, it took me only about 30 minutes to unpack and get 'settled.' this part i've got down. now i just need to make friends with new people, find my way around, and figure out how to be totally independent. my brother's girlfriend was kind enough to hang out with me tonight (brother is out of town for a while). and after driving around the city, i think i've found my motto, at least for the next couple of weeks. as intimidating this city is to me,
nashville, bring it on!
i'm ready for it. from the brief meetings, my housemates seem great. my brother, despite his absence is setting me up nicely, i start work on monday. throw that intimidation out the window (except for big city traffic).
let the good times roll.
